Attendance Dues / Voluntary Contributions
Attendance Dues are a compulsory payment under the terms of the Education and Training Act 2020, and is a condition of enrollment at Marist Catholic School in Herne Bay.
Attendance Dues are charged for all students who attend Catholic Schools in New Zealand.
Attendance Dues are used to pay for all building related costs at Catholic schools in the Auckland Diocese.
Attendance Dues are collected by Marist Catholic School on behalf of the school’s Proprietor, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland. The attendance dues collected by Marist Catholic School are forwarded to Auckland Common Fund Limited, a company established by the proprietors of Catholic integrated schools in the Diocese of Auckland responsible for the collection of attendance dues.

- After a detailed review, the Marist Board agreed to set the total Fees/Contribution as follow:
$1,163.00 for the first child
$1,058 for any subsequent children of the same whanau enrolled at the school
Attendance dues are approved by the Minister of Education under the terms of the Education and Training Act 2020.
Please ensure that you make regular payments, as the Attendance Dues are COMPULSORY.

Parents/Caregivers, as a condition of enrolment and attendance, are required to pay compulsory Attendance Dues as determined from time to time by the Proprietor and approved by the Minister of Education.

Special Character Contributions is collected on behalf of the Proprietor which are permitted under the terms of the Education and Training Act 2020. The Special Character contribution is used to fund staff and services provided by the Catholic Education Services Board who are responsible, on behalf of the Proprietor, for safeguarding and strengthening the Catholic Special Character of our schools. This contribution is eligible for a taxation rebate.
The General Purpose Contributions collected is set by the school board to Enhance the learning environment for our students (e.g. employing additional teaching staff, ensuring classrooms are resourced to deliver the curriculum at high levels. This contribution is eligible for a taxation rebate.
The Activity Contributions collected is set by the school board to ensure all families are able to participate in activities that the school runs to support Special Character and the curriculum (e.g. Trips, Swimming Lessons and Concerts). This contribution is eligible for a taxation rebate.
The Building Contributions collected is set by the school board to ensure the school is able to invest in capital projects. Historically this has contributed to new buildings, field drainage and landscaping. In 2021 these are expected to be new drinking fountains and cultural murals. This contribution is eligible for a taxation rebate.
The Family Assistance Contributions collected is set by the school board in line with our school values. This contribution provides assistance to families who are experiencing financial difficulties; Contribuition can be increased if families so desire. This contribution is eligible for a taxation rebate.
Please pay by cash at the school office or internet banking and direct credit payments. If you choose this option the account details are as follows:
· REFERENCE: Please ensure you include your Child’s name with a Reference eg. fees, netball, camp etc
· AMOUNT: Choose your frequency of payments – Weekly, fortnightly, monthly or termly.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE DUES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Financial assistance is available to assist families who may need financial support with the payment of Attendance Dues for preference students attending Catholic schools in Auckland Diocese, both primary and secondary.
Families facing financial difficulties can contact their school office, their Parish Priest or the Revenue Manager on 09-360-3069 at the Catholic Diocese of Auckland for further information.
